Reviewing and commenting on pages

Modified on Wed, 23 Oct 2019 at 12:58 PM

Pages need to be approved by the Editor-in-Chief or an Editor before your book can be sent to proofing then printing. The procedure to review is:

  • team members submit completed pages to be reviewed by an Editor or Editor-in-Chief
  • the Editor / Editor-in-Chief reviews the page, either setting it to approved or rejected.
  • Approved pages are marked "ready for proofing" and are no longer editable.
  • Rejected pages are returned, with comments, for more work.
  • Once all pages are approved, the book can proceed with the formal proofing procedure.

Submitting a  page to be reviewed

When a team member completes a page, they should submit the page for an Editor-in-Chief or Editor to review.

To send a page to review, hover over it to access the ... icon in the upper right corner of the page. Click on Submit page for review.

Optionally add comments for the Editor-in-Chief or Editor. For example, let them know that you followed a suggestion or made a requested correction. Click on Submit page for review.

A blue page indicator will appear above this page, to notify everyone that this page is ready to be reviewed. This page is no longer available for editing until the review process has been completed.

Reviewing a page

After a team member has submitted a page for review, an Editor-in-Chief or an Editor can approve or reject the page.

To review the page, hover over it, then click on the Review button.

The page will appear in a larger view. If the Editor-in-Chief or Editor approves the page, no comment is needed, but if the page is rejected, they need to write a comment as to why it was rejected.

Approved pages will show up with an orange page indicator. They are no longer editable, and are now at the proofing stage which is the final step before printing.

Rejecting pages after approval

Approved pages may still be rejected at this point by an Editor-in-Chief or an Editor.

To reject a single page, hover over it to access the ... icon in the upper right corner of the page, then choose Reject page.

Portrait pages may be rejected as a block within a section. With the book checked out, click on the ... icon to choose to reject a single page or to reject all portrait pages in the section.

An entire section may also be rejected. Check out the book...

then click on the menu icon and choose Reject all pages.

Comments are required to reject the page, so that the team member editing it can know how to fix it. Once your comments are written, confirm the rejection by clicking the button Reject page.

Once rejected, the page indicator will display a red X. The page is editable again, ready for corrections and to be resubmitted.

Viewing comments on a page

To view page comments, hover over the page, access the ... icon in the upper right corner of the page, and choose View comments.
